My practice is mainly concerned with the concept that the landscape is essentially a man-made construct.  I create images across a number of different photographic mediums that investigate this theme and the ideas around representation, truth and seeing.

My MA project “to landscape” was created as a response to the pandemic,  Lockdown limited my ability to access the landscape so I decided to construct my own landscapes at home using lumen prints.  As lockdown has lifted, my work went through a transformation with my Lumens being re-printed onto material and placed directly back into the landscape. The interplay between the physical and digital images assigns now meaning and experience to the images in terms of form, content and place.

Lumen prints are solar photograms and are a reaction between light, time, the photographic paper and the materials place on them.  Geoffrey Batchen describes them as “something to be looked at, not through, and to be made, not taken – the photograph is not of something but is something”.
